To connect remote sites to a central control office, RAD deploys its Megaplex-2100/2104 multiservice access multiplexer and FCD-IP E1/T1 or fractional E1/T1 access unit with integrated router. These products efficiently aggregate and connect mission-critical airport voice, data and Ethernet video traffic on the TETRA network from multiple remote dispatcher/control rooms to central MSO and control rooms.
The deployment of this solution in an E1/T1 ring topology optimizes the use of bandwidth on leased lines. This solution has an automatic backup via self-healing link protection on the E1 ring. The use of the FCD-E1 or Fractional E1 access units provides additional backup over ISDN.
The multiple interfaces in the MP-2100/2104 multiplexer allow for backhaul over a variety of public or private networks.
Since each connection typically requires only a small amount of bandwidth – about 128 kbps to 256 kbps – the Megaplex multiplexers can be used to efficiently aggregate and groom traffic from a large number of links and transport voice and data over a few high-speed trunks.
